People need support during their healthcare visits.

Companies also need to reach their potential customers who happen to face a language barrier. As the RV capital of the world with the highest concentration of Spanish-speakers in the state, northern Indiana is no exception to the needs associated with interpretation. NIHHC is here to support you.

When you understand your customers, they understand you.

Interpretations Services Available

You may need interpretation services for multiple forums, including large conferences, informal meetings, medical appointments, live interactions, and phone calls. Interpreters can substantially help participants who don’t speak or understand the primary language. NIHHC can provide in-person, video, or phone-based interpreters for your engagements to ensure a positive experience for your participants and a productive interaction for all.

CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETATION

Consecutive interpretation is commonly used in one-on-one or small group settings to help facilitate interactions between people in English and Spanish. One party speaks and pauses, while the interpreter speaks, waits for a response, and then interprets the response back to the original speaker. Our experience is focused on medical appointments, either in person or over the phone.

SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETATION

Simultaneous interpretation is used for conferences and meetings, where the audience has mixed language requirements. The interpreter listens to the speaker through a headset and speaks the translation into a microphone, which wirelessly transmitts to headsets worn by audience members.  This service requires specialized equipment, which we can rent and deliver to support on-site simultaneous interpretation.

Cultural Sensitivity Workshops

NIHHC offers cultural sensitivity workshops in order to promote cultural competency in the community. We educate schools, businesses, and medical institutions about cultural awareness and respect by addressing:

Immigrant trends
The definition of culture and how it affects us
Characteristics of the Hispanic community
The five rules of thumb for interacting across cultures
Scenarios: How culturally sensitive are you?
Other components of culture
