Luis Aguilar

Luis Aguilar

President

Luis Aguilar is a Personal and Professional Development Coach at Lippert Components. He first learned about NIHHC as a high school volunteer while he was attending the Elkhart Career Center. As a volunteer, one of his projects was the design and implementation of the NIHHC logo. He joined the Board of Directors in June 2017 and has especially enjoyed coordinating NIHHC’s annual futsal tournament. He is a great communicator and a team player, and he has a strong work ethic. Luis actively serves in the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserves, and his strong background in business, his positive attitude, and his love of volunteering make him a terrific addition to the board. 

Morey Mowat

Morey Mowat

Vice-President

Morey Mowat is a retired business owner and philanthropist. He was the grand prize winner at the NIHHC Car Raffle in 2017 and was so impressed with the organization that he asked the executive director how he could help the coalition. Morey strongly believes in NIHHC’s mission. He is vastly experienced in finance, program development, and healthcare and is energetic, focused, and a great communicator. 

Mario Teixeira

Mario Teixeira

Treasurer

Mario Teixeira is the Operations Manager at Strikes & Spares Entertainment Center, where he is responsible for general operations and business development, particularly in organizing fundraisers and benefits. As a member of the board, he enthusiastically brings his experience and background to support the continuation of the terrific work that NIHHC has accomplished over the years. 

Julia Rodriguez

Julia Rodriguez

Secretary

Julia Rodriguez is the Strategic Sourcing Manager at Crane Composites in Goshen. She holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and computer engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Mexico. Julia has 10 years of experience working as an engineer with LG Electronics, ALCOA, and PKC Automator in Mexico. She moved to the U.S. in 2013 due to her spouse’s job transfer. Julia has also served as a volunteer for Dress for Success in Fort Wayne and Junior Achievement in Elkhart County. She was recognized as Outstanding Volunteer of the year in 2019 by Junior Achievement and Lemonade Day of Elkhart County.

Edwin Carillo

Board Member

Edwin Carrillo is a Mortgage Loan Originator at First State Bank. He first learned about NIHHC from a colleague. As an alumnus of Indiana University South Bend and studied Healthcare Management, Edwin felt an immediate connection with NIHHC’s mission statement. With years of financing experience, Edwin is enthusiastic about helping his community.

Dara Marquez grew up in Elkhart after immigrating at 3 years old from Apan, Hidalgo, Mexico with her family. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry from Saint Mary’s College and a Master’s of Science in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University. Her academic and professional background involve working in automation within the pharmaceutical industry, but she also works closely with immigrant workers in Elkhart County and in Indiana, organizing for respect, dignity, and permanent protection through Movimiento Cosecha, or the Harvest Movement. Dara is co-owner of The Arena Michiana, which she has graciously allowed NIHHC to use for its COVID-19 clinics during winter months.

Aaron Mishler

Aaron Mishler

Aaron Mishler is a registered nurse living in Elkhart. He is a graduate of Goshen High School and Ivy Tech and Ancilla colleges. Aaron served for eight years in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves as a medic and later as a licensed practical nurse. In his capacity as a nurse, Aaron has volunteered for 11 disaster deployments, both domestic and abroad, including as an Ebola nurse in Liberia; in disasters in Haiti, the Bahamas, and Puerto Rico; and most recently, as a volunteer COVID-19 nurse with the Navajo Nation. Aaron also serves as the first district City Councilman for the city of Elkhart and is the chair of the Public Health & Safety Committee. 

Benjamin Navarro

Benjamin Navarro

Benjamin Navarro is the Admissions Liaison for Latino Recruitment and an Associate Professor of Spanish at Grace College & Seminary in Winona Lake. He attended two institutes in Argentina and went on to obtain his MA in Intercultural Studies at Grace Theological Seminary. He also serves on the board at Kosciusko County Soccer League, as well as on the elder board at Community Grace Brethren Church in Warsaw, where he volunteers often. His passion for outreach, education, language, and cultural sensitivity makes him a great asset to the board. 

Lori Shreiner

Lori Shreiner

Lori Shreiner has served in K-12 public education for 30 years as a teacher, literacy coach, building-level administrator, and now at the district level, as Director of Secondary Programming, including the support of equity and inclusion work in Goshen Community Schools. In her principal position, through strategic use of data collection, progress monitoring, and shared leadership, she and her team turned around a school to an academically high achieving one. In 2015, she was recognized by the Indiana Association of School Principals as the District 2 Middle School Principal of the Year. In 2017, she opened a New Tech Middle School where she was able to specialize in transformative learning environments, specifically focused on project-based learning, community partnerships, and equitable learning practices. She served as District 2 IASP President and facilitated collaboration of principals throughout District 2 counties. Lori completed her EdS at Indiana State and is currently completing her doctorate in educational leadership.
