Sheng Ang
Data Analyst Coordinator
Sheng Ang is a data scientist with expertise in developing dashboards, primarily in healthcare and education. He uses data to inform organizational decision-making and drive efforts to improve community health. Sheng earned his bachelor’s degree in data science from Western Michigan University, and he is currently pursuing a Master’s in Statistics at Purdue University. Sheng has worked with the NIHHC since 2022.

Dylan Guzowski
Technology & Community Engagement Specialist
Dylan Guzowski has collaborated with NIHHC for over five years, providing technology support to strengthen health programs and community events. He brings nearly 10 years of experience managing manufacturing businesses in Elkhart County. His close work with Hispanic employees and firsthand understanding of the challenges they face inspired him to get involved in promoting community health and serving vulnerable populations.

Zuleyja Prieto
Project Coordinator
Dr. Zuleyja Prieto earned her medical degree from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla in Mexico. She brings over 20 years of experience in family medicine, as well as expertise in business management and translation and interpretation services.
Dr. Prieto has been part of NIHHC since 2019. She has worked as a project coordinator and currently serves as the Medical Coordinator for NIHHC’s infant mortality initiative and health fairs. She is also a facilitator for NIHHC’s Healthy Hearts program. Additionally, Dr. Prieto is a Certified Community Health Worker (CCHW). This certification, along with her background in general medicine, allows her to serve each individual with a holistic approach rooted in care, compassion, intuition, and knowledge.

Alexandria Sanchez
Marketing Coordinator
Alexandria Sanchez joined NIHHC in 2021 through marketing efforts during the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration in Warsaw. Alexandria has over ten years of experience in marketing and small businesses. She uses her skills to create impactful online marketing strategies that promote community engagement and inclusivity. Her passion for fostering community connections is the driving force behind her work and commitment to making a positive impact. She holds a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship and international studies from Indiana University.

Liliana Quintero
Executive Director
Liliana Quintero is a public health researcher and developer of educational programs with a focus on cultural competence. She has served as Executive Director of the Northern Indiana Hispanic Health Coalition (NIHHC) since 2005 and is responsible for leading the overall direction and performance of the organization. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, and an MBA from Indiana University South Bend (IUSB). Born in Bogotá, Colombia, she came to the United States to complete her MBA and chose to stay to advocate for the health and well-being of underserved communities in the region.
Thanks to her leadership and initiatives, thousands of community members across Northern Indiana have received a “second chance” at improving their health. Liliana remains at the forefront of public health efforts that impact individuals with limited access to primary care, and she actively serves on committees focused on preventive healthcare needs in the region.
Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, including IUSB’s Unsung Latina Heroine Award for Northern Indiana, the Heart Hero award from the American Heart Association, and the YWCA’s Woman of Service award. She has also served on the board of directors at Goshen Hospital since 2017.
In 2019, Liliana was awarded the Key to the City of Elkhart by Mayor Timothy Neese in recognition of her ongoing public service and dedication to the children of Elkhart, particularly through the Healthy Hearts program, for which she authored the curriculum. That same year, she received the Thomas Atkins Award from Junior Achievement of Elkhart County in honor of her leadership as a minority business leader and was inducted into their Business Legacy Hall of Fame. She was also recognized as the 2023 Preventionist of the Year by Indiana Family & Social Services Administration, Division of Mental Health and Addiction.

Iraida D. Zapata Aguilera
Project Coordinator
Iraida earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration in Health Promotion from Indiana University South Bend. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and a Certified Medical Interpreter in Spanish and English. She began her journey at the Northern Indiana Hispanic Health Coalition as an intern, where she actively contributed to the infant mortality research project, helped with the implementation of the Healthy Hearts and Somos Resilientes programs, and supported vaccination clinics and community outreach events. She now serves as a Program Coordinator, contributing to the development of data-driven community initiatives with a strong focus on public health education and research to benefit the Hispanic community.

Rebecca Johnson, PhD, MSc
Grant Coordinator
Dr. Johnson is a freelance public health researcher specializing in Partnership and
Facilitation across Illinois and Indiana. She focuses on building the capacity of
community-based stakeholders to engage effectively with health research,
policymakers, funders, and researchers. Her work includes training on research tools
such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, photovoice, mapping, evaluation, and
dissemination. Dr. Johnson helps stakeholders interpret findings for greater impact. Her
accomplishments include evaluating older adult priorities for CJE Senior Life, and co-
designing a bilingual training program for home care aides at Help at Home.
Community Health Workers & Facilitators

Luna Avila
Promotora de Salud
Luna Avila serves as a Promotora de Salud for NIHHC and is a Certified Community Health Worker. She has been connected to NIHHC since 2006, contributing to health fairs, fundraising activities, and various educational programs offered by the organization.
Luna strongly believes in NIHHC’s mission, especially in the dedicated work of its Executive Director, Liliana Quintero, and her team. Thanks to their collective efforts, they have been able to create impactful educational programs and health fairs. As a Promotora de Salud, Luna is helping to build a healthier community.

Gloria Chavarria
Promotora De Salud And Facilitator
Gloria Chavarría holds a nursing degree from Mexico. She serves as a Promotora de Salud for NIHHC and is a Certified Community Health Worker. She has been part of the NIHHC team since 2008, as a volunteer. With her experience as a nurse and her knowledge as a Promotora de Salud, she helps patients overcome cultural and language barriers and help them to understand the results of medical screenings conducted during NIHHC’s health fairs. Gloria is also a facilitator of the Por Tu Familia program.
For these health fairs, Gloria ensures all equipment is properly calibrated and trains volunteers and other Promotoras de Salud on how to use it. As a Promotora de Salud, Gloria is passionate about helping underserved, vulnerable, and uninsured community members connect with local resources, empowering them to thrive in various areas of life.
Flor Valdez Salazar
Flor Valdez Salazar is a registered nurse from Goshen College, with a strong commitment to promoting both the physical and mental well-being of the community. Flor began her journey with NIHHC in 2010 as a volunteer. Her passion for helping others led her to take on increasing responsibility within the organization. Over the years, she has served in various roles, including program facilitator, CPR instructor, and HIV testing coordinator. She currently serves as a facilitator for NIHHC’s Healthy Hearts program, empowering youth to make healthy choices.

Beatriz Calderón
Promotora De Salud And Facilitator
Beatriz Calderón holds a bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory engineering and technology from the Technological Institute of Aguascalientes, Mexico, along with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Goshen College. She serves as a Promotora de Salud for NIHHC and is a Certified Community Health Worker. She has been part of the NIHHC team since 2008, as a volunteer. Then she became certified in mental health programming and has served as facilitator for NIHHC’s Somos Resilientes and Vivamos a Plenitud programs. Beatriz applies her expertise as a Promotora de Salud at health fairs organized by NIHHC, assisting the community in making informed health decisions and referring them to medical centers and social services that offer vital support for their well-being.

Daniel García
Facilitator
Daniel Garcia is a program facilitator for NIHHC’s Somos Resilientes program where he leads engaging classes focused on anger management, substance abuse education, and personal development. He holds ICADV (Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence) certifications and is trained in Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT). With over seven years of experience working with community members involved in the justice system, Daniel helps participants build accountability, develop healthier coping strategies, and break cycles of harmful behavior. He joined the NIHHC in April 2022 and remains committed to supporting its mission through direct support, education, and empowerment within the Hispanic community.

Keny Chapman
Project Manager
Keny Chapman has been serving as the Project Manager at NIHHC since 2023, where she contributes to the creation of culturally competent program curricula and works alongside evaluators to guarantee precise data collection. Additionally, she acts as a facilitator and trainer for NIHHC’s Somos Resilientes and Vivamos a Plenitud programs. Keny is a Certified Community Health Worker and possesses a BSBA from Trine University, along with a nursing degree from the Clinic Ricardo Palma in Lima, Perú. Currently, she is pursuing her MPH at the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington. Keny is dedicated to advocating for Spanish-speaking communities, especially in relation to mental health issues.

Gabriela Tovar
Promotora De Salud And Facilitator
Gabriela Tovar is a high school student advisor and college prep coach. She serves as a Promotora de Salud for NIHHC and is a Certified Community Health Worker. She has been part of the NIHHC team since 2009. As a Promotora de Salud with extensive experience in supporting Hispanic students and families, Gabriela engages the community to increase access to resources and health services. She is also a facilitator for NIHHC’s Somos Resilientes and Vivamos a Plenitud programs. Gabriela holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Goshen College.
